⁹ On the seventh day^(A) they must shave off all their hair;^(B) they must shave their head, their beard, their eyebrows and the rest of their hair. They must wash their clothes and bathe themselves with water, and they will be clean.^(C)

³ Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom.^(A)

² Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord,^(A) that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go.”^(B)

¹⁷ “Far be it from me, Lord, to do this!” he said. “Is it not the blood^(A) of men who went at the risk of their lives?” And David would not drink it.

Such were the exploits of the three mighty warriors.

⁸ So even if I boast somewhat freely about the authority the Lord gave us^(A) for building you up rather than tearing you down,^(B) I will not be ashamed of it.

²³ Do I take any pleasure in the death of the wicked? declares the Sovereign Lord. Rather, am I not pleased^(A) when they turn from their ways and live?^(B)

³² For I take no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Sovereign Lord. Repent^(A) and live!^(B)

¹¹ Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live.^(A) Turn!^(B) Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, people of Israel?’^(C)

²¹ The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the Lord your God at Gilgal.”

²³ you must not leave the body hanging on the pole overnight.^(A) Be sure to bury^(B) it that same day, because anyone who is hung on a pole is under God’s curse.^(C) You must not desecrate^(D) the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.
